Protecting Our Water System
Backflow can occur under many conditions in the water system The term backflow is the reversal of flow from private homes, commercial and industrial facilities into the public water system. This has the potential to bring bacteria and other harmful contaminants into the water system
The Buckeye Water District requires that certain customers install backflows. These backflows will need to be tested every 12 months by a backflow certified plumber.
The following customers are required to have backflow preventers:
- Commercial, industrial, and manufacturing facilities
- Restaurants
- Automotive repair shops
- Medical facilities
- Mortuaries
- Fire & sprinkler systems
- Lawn irrigation systems
- Boiler systems
- Hair & nail salons
- Multi-resident buildings
